Miguel Bleis (born March 1, 2004) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Bleis was signed by the Boston Red Sox on January 15, 2021, and received a $1.5 million signing bonus.[1] He was assigned to the Dominican Summer League Red Sox to begin his professional career and hit for a .252 average in 36 games.[2] Bleis spent the 2022 season with the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Red Sox and had a .301/.353/.542 slash line with 14 doubles, four triples, and five home runs while driving in 27 runs, scoring 28 runs, and stealing 18 bases over 40 games.[3] [4] His season ended in August after he experienced back tightness.[5]

Bleis entered the 2023 season ranked as a consensus top-100 prospect.[6] He was assigned to the Salem Red Sox of the Single-A Carolina League at the beginning of the season.[7] In 31 games, Bleis slashed .230/.282/.325 with 1 home run, 16 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. On June 10, 2023, it was announced that Bleis would undergo surgery on his left shoulder and miss the remainder of the season.[8] Bleis began the 2024 season with Salem, ranked as the Red Sox' number five minor-league prospect by Baseball America.

Kristian Eron Campbell (born June 28, 2002) is an American professional baseball second baseman and outfielder in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Campbell attended George Walton Comprehensive High School in Marietta, Georgia and played college baseball at Georgia Tech. He was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[9] [10]

Campbell spent his first professional season with Florida Complex League Red Sox and Greenville Drive. He started 2024 with Greenville before being promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs.[11] [12]

Nicholas Decker (born October 2, 1999) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Boston Red Sox organization. Listed at 6inchesft0inchesin (ftin) and 200lb, he both throws and bats left-handed.

Decker attended Seneca High School in New Jersey and was committed to play baseball on scholarship at the University of Maryland.[13] He played in the 2017 Perfect Game All American Classic, where he received a lot of exposure with draft scouts.[14] He was drafted by Boston in the second round (64th pick overall) of the 2018 MLB Draft. Rather than attending Maryland, he chose to sign with the Red Sox for a $1.25 million signing bonus.[15] Decker played briefly with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox during the 2018 season, appearing in two games and going 1-for-4 (.250) at the plate. He began the 2019 season in extended spring training, then joined the Class A Short Season Lowell Spinners at the start of their season.[16] With Lowell, he appeared in 53 games, batting .247 with six home runs and 25 RBIs. After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Decker was invited to participate in the Red Sox' fall instructional league.[17]

Decker began the 2021 season in Low-A with the Salem Red Sox. In late June, he was assigned to the Florida Complex League Red Sox where he played five games on a rehabilitation assignment following an injury. Overall during 2021, Decker played 73 games while batting .270 with eight home runs and 40 RBIs.[18] Decker spent the 2022 season in High-A with the Greenville Drive; in 71 games, be batted .122 with six home runs and 18 RBIs. He returned to Greenville for 2023, batting .218 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs in 68 games.[19]

Shane Liam Drohan (born January 7, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Drohan attended Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 23rd round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.[20] He did not sign with the Phillies and played college baseball at Florida State University. In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[21] After three years, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB Draft.[22] [23]

Drohan made his professional debut in 2021 with the Salem Red Sox. He played 2022 with the Greenville Drive and Portland Sea Dogs and started 2023 with Portland.[24]

On December 6, 2023, the Chicago White Sox selected Drohan from the Red Sox in the Rule 5 draft.[25] On February 22, 2024, Drohan underwent a nerve decompression procedure on his left shoulder,[26] and was placed on the 60–day injured list to begin the season.[27] On June 9, Drohan was activated from the injured list and subsequently designated for assignment.[28] On June 12, Drohan was returned to the Red Sox organization.[29]

Max Ferguson

Max Tucker Ferguson (born August 23, 1999) is an American professional baseball second baseman in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Ferguson played college baseball at Tennessee for three seasons. In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[30] He compiled a .333 batting average with two home runs and nine stolen bases before his 2020 sophomore season at Tennessee was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[31] As a junior, Ferguson batted .253 with 12 home runs and 15 stolen bases.[32]

Ferguson was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres.[33] After signing with the team he was assigned to the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Padres before being promoted to the Lake Elsinore Storm of Low-A West and batted .212 with 29 runs scored and 15 stolen bases in 37 games between the two teams.[34] Ferguson returned to Lake Elsinore at the beginning of the 2022 season.[35] He batted .247 and stole 51 bases in 64 games with the team before being promoted to the High-A Fort Wayne TinCaps of the Midwest League.[36]

On August 2, 2022, Ferguson, Eric Hosmer, Corey Rosier, and cash considerations were traded to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Jay Groome.[37] [38] Ferguson finished the 2022 season with the High-A Greenville Drive. Overall with three teams during 2022, he batted a combined .214 with seven home runs and 60 RBIs in 114 games.

Ferguson spent most of 2023 with Greenville, while also playing five Triple-A games with the Worcester Red Sox. Overall for the 2023 season, he batted .228 with five home runs and 34 RBIs in 91 games.[39]

Wikelman David González (born March 25, 2002) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).

González signed with the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent in July 2018.[40] He made his professional debut in 2019 with the Dominican Summer League Red Sox.

González did not play in 2020 due to the Minor League Baseball season being cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021 to play for the Florida Complex League Red Sox and Salem Red Sox. He spent the 2022 season with Salem and the Greenville Drive, then started the 2023 season with Greenville before his promotion to the Portland Sea Dogs.[41] [42] [43] González was recognized as the Red Sox' minor-league pitcher of the year for 2023.[44]

On November 14, 2023, the Red Sox added González to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He began the 2024 season with Double-A Portland, ranked as the Red Sox' number seven minor-league prospect by Baseball America.

Nathaniel Thomas Hickey (born November 23, 1999) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Hickey attended the Providence School in Jacksonville, Florida and played college baseball at the University of Florida. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.[45]

Hickey spent his first professional season with Florida Complex League Red Sox and the Salem Red Sox. He started 2022 with Salem before being promoted to the Greenville Drive. He played 2023 with Greenville and the Portland Sea Dogs.[46] [47] After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League.[48]

Entering the 2024 season, Hickey was ranked as the Red Sox' number 15 minor-league prospect by Baseball America.

Blaze Jordan (born December 19, 2002) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Jordan rose to prominence as a child when he went viral after hitting a 395feet home run at Globe Life Park in Arlington at age 11 and a 500feet home run at age 13.[49] [50] In eighth grade, he committed to play college baseball at Mississippi State University.[51] He attended DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, Mississippi.[52] [53]

In 2019, he hit .440 with ten home runs and 46 RBIs.[54] Following the season, he reclassified from the class of 2021 to the class of 2020.[53] That summer, he won the 2019 High School Home Run Derby at Progressive Field, hitting a total of 27 home runs over three rounds.[55] [56] [57] He also played in the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game and the Perfect Game All-American Classic.[58] In 2020, his senior year, he batted .422 with six doubles, five triples and four RBIs before the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; he was named the Gatorade Mississippi Baseball Player of the Year.[59]

Jordan was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the third round (89th overall) of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.[60] [61] He signed for $1.75 million.[62] Due to the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season, he spent the summer working out and practicing in his home state of Mississippi.[63] Following that summer, he spent time at Fenway South participating in Boston's instructional league.[64] Jordan began the 2021 season in extended spring training before being assigned to the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Red Sox in late June.[65] In early August, after batting .362 with four home runs and seven doubles over 19 games, he was promoted to the Salem Red Sox of the Low-A East.[66] [67] Over nine games with Salem, Jordan hit .250 with two home runs and seven RBIs.[68]

Jordan returned to Salem to open the 2022 season.[69] In early August, he was promoted to the Greenville Drive of the High-A South Atlantic League.[70] Over 120 games between both teams, he slashed .289/.363/.445 with 12 home runs, 68 RBIs, and thirty doubles. During the 2023 season, Jordan batted .324 in 73 games with Greenville,[71] and batted .254 with six home runs and 31 RBIs in 49 games with the Portland Sea Dogs.

In early October 2023, Jordan wrote on Twitter about "dealing with anxiety and depression after seeing so many stories about it."[72] Jordan returned to Portland to begin the 2024 season, ranked as the Red Sox' number 21 minor-league prospect by Baseball America.

Liu Chih-jung (; born April 7, 1999) is a Taiwanese professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Liu was a shortstop and pitcher in high school. Due to a heavy pitching load in high school, his coaches at Chinese Culture University utilized his skills solely as a position player during his first season of collegiate baseball. He returned to pitching in 2019.[73]

Professional careerLiu signed with the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher on October 23, 2019, for US$750,000.[74] [75] [76] Liu arrived in the United States for spring training with the Red Sox in February 2020.[77] [78] [79] After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Liu was invited to participate in the Red Sox' fall instructional league.[17] Liu began the 2021 season in extended spring training, was first assigned to the Florida Complex League Red Sox where he made a single start, and was then promoted to the Salem Red Sox in early July.[80] Overall during the 2021 season, he compiled a 4.23 earned run average (ERA) and 5–1 win–loss record in 13 starts while striking out 60 batters in innings pitched.[81]

Liu began the 2022 season in High-A with the Greenville Drive.[69] In 25 games (21 starts) with the Drive, he had a 4–11 record with a 6.10 ERA. He also made one start in Double-A for the Portland Sea Dogs, resulting in a no decision after allowing two earned runs in innings. Liu spent the 2023 season with Portland, pitching to a 7–8 record in 26 games (24 starts) with a 5.35 ERA.[82]

International careerLiu participated in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup for Chinese Taipei as a pitcher and position player. He pitched in the 2019 Asian Baseball Championship,[83] in which he was named the most valuable player,[76] and the Chinese Taipei national baseball team won the gold medal. He was to appear in the 2019 WBSC Premier12,[84] but sat out the tournament due to injuries.[85] [86] Liu competed in baseball at the 2022 Asian Games (the 2022 Asian Games were played in 2023); appearing in two games, he pitched five innings while yielding two hits and striking out eight batters,[87] and won a silver medal with Chinese Taipei.

Bryan Eduardo Mata (born May 3, 1999) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization. Listed at 6inchesft3inchesin (ftin) and 160lb, he bats and throws right-handed.

Mata signed with the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent in January 2016 for a $25,000 signing bonus.[88] He made his professional debut that summer for the DSL Red Sox and spent all the whole season there, compiling a 4–4 record, a 2.80 ERA, and a 1.20 WHIP in 14 games started. In 2017, he played for the Class A Greenville Drive where he posted a 5–6 record with a 3.74 ERA in 17 starts.

MLB.com ranked Mata as Boston's fourth best prospect going into the 2018 season.[89] Playing for the Class A-Advanced Salem Red Sox, Mata was the sole Boston prospect selected to the 2018 All-Star Futures Game,[90] where he pitched an inning of scoreless relief, allowing one hit while walking one and striking out one.[91] In 17 starts for Salem, Mata was 6–3 with a 3.50 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP.

Mata started the 2019 season with Salem, and was promoted to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs on July 1.[92] Overall with both teams during the season, Mata compiled a 7–7 record with 3.43 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 105 innings.[93] After the 2020 minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mata was invited to participate in the Red Sox' fall instructional league.[17] Following the 2020 season, Mata was ranked by Baseball America as the Red Sox' number four prospect.[94]

On November 20, 2020, Mata was added to Boston's 40-man roster.[95] During 2021 spring training, he sustained a slight UCL tear.[96] On April 13, 2021, Mata underwent Tommy John surgery, ending his 2021 season.[97] Mata began the 2022 season on the injured list in Triple-A with the Worcester Red Sox.[69] He resumed pitching in May in extended spring training,[98] and played in a minor-league game for the first time in over two years in early June.[99] With four different teams during 2022, Mata pitched in 19 games (18 starts) while compiling a 2.49 ERA in 83 innings with a 7–3 record.

Mata spent 2023 in Triple-A with Worcester, compiling an 0–3 record in nine games (seven starts) with a 6.33 ERA in 27 innings pitched.[100] Following the 2023 regular season, he was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League.[101] Mata spent much of the first half of the 2024 season on the injured list due to hamstring and shoulder issues.[102] He was transferred to the team's 60-day injured list on July 26.[103]

Chase Gregory Meidroth (born July 23, 2001) is an American professional baseball second baseman in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Meidroth attended Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California, and played college baseball for the San Diego Toreros. In 2022, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[104] He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[105]

Meidroth spent his first professional season with Florida Complex League Red Sox and the Salem Red Sox. During 2022 minor-league play, he had a .316 batting average with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 22 games. In 2023, Meidroth played in High-A for the Greenville Drive and in Double-A for the Portland Sea Dogs, posting a .271 average with nine home runs and 57 RBIs in 111 total games.[106]

Entering the 2024 season, Meidroth was ranked as the Red Sox' number 13 minor-league prospect by Baseball America.[107]

Luis Alexis Perales (born April 14, 2003) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Perales signed with the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent on July 2, 2019.[108] [109] He did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[110]

Perales made his professional debut for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox in 2021, and split 2022 between the rookie–level Florida Complex League Red Sox and Single–A Salem Red Sox. He split the 2023 campaign between Salem and the High-A Greenville Drive. Perales posted a cumulative 1.77 earned run average (ERA) in innings pitched in 2022 and a 3.91 ERA in innings in 2023, primarily as a stating pitcher.[111]

On November 14, 2023, the Red Sox added Perales to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.[112] He began the 2024 season with Greenville, ranked as the Red Sox' number nine minor-league prospect by Baseball America.[107] In 9 starts split between Greenville and the Double–A Portland Sea Dogs, Perales compiled a 2–2 record and 2.94 ERA with 56 strikeouts across innings pitched. On June 18, 2024, it was announced that Perales would require Tommy John surgery, ending his season.[113]

Dalton Thomas Rogers (born January 18, 2001) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Rogers attended Northwest Rankin High School in Flowood, Mississippi.[114] Rogers played college baseball career at Southeastern Louisiana in 2020. He transferred to Jones County Junior College in 2021.[115] He transferred again to Southern Miss in 2022.[116] He finished the 2022 season with 1.95 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched.[117] In 2021 and 2022, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.[118] [119]

Rogers was selected in the third round of the 2022 MLB draft by the Boston Red Sox.[120] He was assigned to the Rookie Florida Complex League Red Sox on August 15, 2022. He was later signed to the Single–A Salem Red Sox on April 5, 2023.[121] On May 24, 2023, he was promoted to the High–A Greenville Drive.[122]

David Sandlin

David Eleck Sandlin (born February 21, 2001) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Sandlin attended Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma, and played college baseball at Eastern Oklahoma State College and for the Oklahoma Sooners. In one season at Oklahoma, he pitched in 19 games (18 starts) while posting a 5.59 earned run average (ERA) and striking out 102 batters in 95 innings. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 11th round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft.[123]

Sandlin signed with the Royals and made his professional debut in 2022 with the Arizona Complex League Royals, pitching in one game for two innings. In 2023, he played for the Single-A Columbia Fireflies and the High-A Quad Cities River Bandits, posting a combined 3.51 ERA in 14 games (all starts) while striking out 87 batters in innings.[124] [125]

On February 17, 2024, the Royals traded Sandlin to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for John Schreiber.[126] [127] Sandlin began the 2024 season with the Red Sox' High-A affiliate, the Greenville Drive.[107]

Full Triple-A to Rookie League rosters

As part of Major League Baseball's restructuring of Minor League Baseball prior to the 2021 season, the Red Sox dropped the Lowell Spinners, a Class A Short Season team, as an affiliate.[128]

Triple-A

The Worcester Red Sox are members of the International League. They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 2021.

Double-A

The Portland Sea Dogs are members of the Eastern League. They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 2003.

High-A

The Greenville Drive are members of South Atlantic League. They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 2005.

Single-A

The Salem Red Sox are members of Carolina League. They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 2009.

Rookie

The Florida Complex League Red Sox are members of the Florida Complex League (FCL). They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 1989; the team was known as the Gulf Coast League Red Sox prior to 2021.

Foreign Rookie

The Dominican Summer League Red Sox are members of the Dominican Summer League (DSL). They have been a Red Sox affiliate since 1997. Since 2015, the Red Sox have usually fielded two teams in the DSL, differentiated as 1 and 2 or Blue and Red.
