Boris Mikhajlovich Vladimirskij (Russian: Борис Михайлович Владимирский; born in 1932) is a Soviet and Russian astronomer at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory.[1]

Biography

Vladimirskij was born on April 17, 1932, in Vyshny Volochyok. His mother, Elena Alekseevna Sibirskaya, is the daughter of Alexy Sibirsky, who was executed in 1937 in the Great Purge. In 1958, he graduated from Dnepropetrovsk State University.[2]

He worked at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory for 50 years in positions from laboratory assistant to leading researcher. He is also a former professor of the Tavrida National V.I. Vernadsky University (1996–2008). Additionally, he is an of more than 300 scholarly articles and over 10 books and brochures.[2] He was also president of the International Committee for Research and Study of Environmental Factors (CIFA).[3]

A minor planet, 3591 Vladimirskij, was named in his honor.[4] [5] He has been retired since 2008.
