Bora (Turkish name) explained
Bora is a common masculine Turkish given name that means "a strong wind that usually brings rain."[1] . The word is derived from the Ancient Greek[2] and ultimately related to the mythological figure of Boreas/Βορέας,[3] the North Wind. Latin boreas (=hard and cold wind), Italian borea (=north wind), French borée (north and especially northwest wind), and Persian baran (=rain) are based on the same etymological roots.[4] In addition, it is possible that it is related to the Mongolian word 'borugan' (=rain).[5]
