Božejov is a market town in Pelhřimov District in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 600 inhabitants.
The village of Nová Ves is an administrative part of Božejov.
Božejov is located about 9km (06miles) southwest of Pelhřimov and 30km (20miles) west of Jihlava. It lies in the Křemešník Highlands. The highest point is the Troják hill at 704m (2,310feet) above sea level. The upper course of the Želivka River (called the Hejlovka) flows along the northwestern municipal border. The area is rich in small fishponds and streams.
The first written mention of Božejov is from 1352.[2]
The I/34 road (part of the European route E551, the section from Jindřichův Hradec to Pelhřimov) passes through the municipal territory.
The main landmark of Božejov is the Church of Saint George. It is a large early Baroque building with a medieval core. The tower dates from 1642.[3]
