Beau Atkinson is an American college football defensive end for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Early life
Atkinson attended Leesville Road High School in North Carolina. He was rated as a four-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Appalachian State, Miami, Michigan, NC State, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.[1] [2] Ultimately, Atkinson committed to play college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels.[3] [4]
College career
During his first two collegiate seasons in 2022 and 2023, Atkinson appeared in 13 games and notched 19 tackles with four and a half being for a loss, three and a half sacks, and a forced fumble.[5] [6] [7] In week ten of the 2024 season, he had a breakout game notching four and a half tackles for a loss, and three and a half sacks, as he helped the Tar Heels beat Florida State.[8] For his performance, Atkinson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) defensive lineman of the week.[9]
