Bayview is a town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 475 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen–Raymondville and the Matamoros–Brownsville metropolitan areas.

Geography

Bayview is located in eastern Cameron County at 26.1294°N -97.4011°W (26.129573, –97.401165).[4] It is east of San Benito and northwest of Port Isabel.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 12km2, of which 10.1km2 is land and 1.9km2, or 15.81%, is water.[5]

As of the 2020 United States census, there were 475 people, 222 households, and 189 families residing in the town.

2000 census

At the 2000 census, there were 323 people, 116 households and 88 families residing in the town. The population density was 115.2sp=usNaNsp=us. There were 133 housing units at an average density of 47.5sp=usNaNsp=us. The racial makeup of the town was 95.67% White, 0.93% African American, 1.37% Native American, 0.68% from other races, and 2.28% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 29.41% of the population.

There were 116 households, of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.3% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% were non-families. 20.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.15.

27.6% of the population were under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females, there were 88.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.7 males.
