Batrachostomus Explained

Batrachostomus is a genus of frogmouths. The generic name is a direct translation from the Greek for 'frogmouth'; / 'frog' and / 'mouth'.^[1] It includes the following species:

• Philippine frogmouth, Batrachostomus septimus
• Palawan frogmouth, Batrachostomus chaseni
• Blyth's frogmouth, Batrachostomus affinis

• Sri Lanka frogmouth, Batrachostomus moniliger
• Hodgson's frogmouth, Batrachostomus hodgsoni
• Sumatran frogmouth, Batrachostomus poliolophus
• Javan frogmouth, Batrachostomus javensis
