Bastián Esteban Labbé Salazar[1] (born 6 May 1990) is a Chilean teacher who was elected as a member of the Chilean Constitutional Convention.
Labbé is a professor of history and geography. He graduated from the University of Concepción, also has a diploma in environmental education and sustainable educational projects.[2] Labbé has served as an environmental teacher and socio-environmental activism in the Biobío region. Labbé is currently a spokesperson for the “Save the Sanctuary” campaign; which seeks to protect the Península de Hualpén Nature Sanctuary, and the “Wallpen Territorial Coordinator”. He is also co-founder of the NGO "Colectivo El Queule", an initiative focused on promoting ecotourism, environmental education and research.
Labbé registered as an independent candidate for the 2021 constituent convention elections.[3] He applied into district 20. This formed part of the Popular Constituent Assembly list. He was elected on May 15, 2021.[4] Labbé integrated the transitory commission for Popular Participation and Territorial Equity, After the approval of the convention's regulations. In October 2021, He joined the thematic commission on Form of State, Organization, Autonomy, Decentralization, Equity, Territorial Justice, Local Governments and Fiscal Organization.[5]
