Basantagee Nongallamdai (English: The Dawn of Spring) is a 2006 Manipuri film directed by Tej Kshetri and produced by Kshetrimayum Muhindro, under the banner of TV 10 and presented by Salam Dwijamani.[1] [2] [3] It stars Kaiku Rajkumar and Maya Choudhury in the lead roles. The film was premiered at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Imphal in 2006. The movie was later released at Shankar Talkies, Lamphel and screened at the theatre for more than 50 days. Its second and third installments, respectively titled as Ujaningba Saktam and Achumba Paokhum were released in 2007 and 2009.[4]

Basantagee Nongallamdai got official selection at the First Festival of Manipuri Cinema 2007.[5] It was also screened at the 7th Manipur State Film Festival 2010 organised by Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC).[6]

Synopsis

Manimatum falls in love with his college teacher Sarla. Their future become blurry after Ranbir forcibly abducts Sarla.

Soundtrack

R.K. Jiten and Sorri Senjam composed the soundtrack for the film and Manaobi MM, Chaoson and Tej Kshetri wrote the lyrics. The songs are titled Nungairo Nungairo Napaan Pharingei Nungaihouro, Eigi Thamoise and Ujaningba Saktam Nungshiba.
