Shubhashish Mazumder Bappa (born 5 February 1972), better known as Bappa Mazumder,[1] is a Bangladeshi singer, lyricist and national film award winner composer.[2] He is the lead singer of the rock band Dalchhut, which he formed in 1996 with Sanjeeb Choudhury. Mazumder is famous for his Bengali romantic compositions and is known as the Melody King of Bangladesh.
Bappa Mazumder is the son of a music couple, classical maestro Ustad Barin Mazumder and Ila Mazumder.[3] [4] [5] [6] He is the younger brother of mime artist Partha Pratim Majumder and music composer Partha Sharothi Mazumder. As both his parents were musicians, Bappa got his early learning from family itself. Later, he took a five-year course in classical music at Monihar Sangeet Academy, a music school established by his father.
In 2008, Mazumder married dancer Mehbooba Mahnoor Chandni in 2008. The wedding was reportedly conflicted from the beginning and they ultimately separated in 2018. The same year, he married actress Tania Hossain. They have a daughter named Agnimitra Mazumder Pieta (born 18 December 2019).[7]
