Back to School is a 1933 Australian radio revue by Edmund Barclay. It was one of several revues Barclay wrote.[2]
The revue was broadcast in September and repeated in October.
According to press material:
In this original Musical Burlesque the A.B.C. Revue Company turns back the pages of the years gone by until the clamorous school-bell calls them back once again to desk and cane. They take the modem spirit back with them, however, with somewhat amusing results, the old-fashioned, simple school songs and the syncopation of to-day being combined with laughable effect. Harmonised choruses, bright songs, schoolboy jokes and jests combine to build a show of highly diverting entertainment. The Wireless Weekly said "the dialogue was quite good, some of the jokes were new, and the songs and music were in places brilliant. I can remember times when it was something of an effort to listen to radio revues; you felt that it was your duty to Australian industry to listen; but now it becomes increasingly (I hope) possible to combine duty with pleasure.
