Bảo Yên is a rural district of Lào Cai province in the Northeast region of Vietnam. As of 2003, the district had a population of 73,924.[1] The district covers an area of 821 km2. The district capital lies at Phố Ràng.[1] The Giáy language is spoken in some parts of the district by local minorities.The planned Sapa Airport will be built in this district.
