Avenir (Russian: Авени́р) is a Russian Christian male first name.[1] Its feminine version is Avenira.[2] The name is derived from the Biblical Hebrew word abnēr, meaning father (god) is light. Its colloquial variant is Venir (Russian: Вени́р).
