Assumption College is an Autonomous arts and science college in Kerala, India. Established in 1949, it is situated in Changanasserry 17 km from Kottayam. It is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University. The college had been accredited A+ by NAAC in its fourth cycle. The college is considered to be one of the top colleges in Kerala providing various alumni especially in sports and games.
On recognising the need for education in woman Mar Dr James Kalacherry laid the foundation stone for the women's wing of St Berchmans College Changanasserry in 12 August 1949, establishing a separate division for women in St Berchmans College facilitating University education for women in Kerala. It was then affiliated to University of Travancore in 1950. Later in 1955, the college was de-annexed from SB College Changanasserry under the leadership of Archbishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu and gave the name Assumption College Changanasserry dedicating it to Assumption of Virgin Mary. It was a women's college until 2023. Today it is a prestigious institution of co-education affiliated to MG University Kottayam.
