Aspergillus desertorum explained
Aspergillus desertorum is a species of fungus in the genus Aspergillus which has been isolated from desert soil.[1] [2] It is from the Nidulantes section.[3] Aspergillus desertorum produces desertorin A, desertorin B, desertorin C, paxiline and emindol DA.[4] [5] [6] [7]
In 2016, the genome of A. desertorum was sequenced as a part of the Aspergillus whole-genome sequencing project - a project dedicated to performing whole-genome sequencing of all members of the genus Aspergillus.[8] The genome assembly size was 29.04 Mbp.[8]
Growth and morphology
A. desertorum has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates. The growth morphology of the colonies can be seen in the pictures below.
