In May 2021, he was elected as a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Kanthi Dakshin (constituency).[1] [2] [3] [4] He defeated Jyotirmoy Kar of All India Trinamool Congress by 10,293 votes in 2021 West Bengal Assembly election.
