Ardabil County (fa|شهرستان اردبیل) is in Ardabil province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ardabil.[2]
History
After the 2006 National Census, Sareyn District was separated from the county in the establishment of Sareyn County.[3] Gharbi Rural District was separated from the Central District in the formation of Samarin District, to include the new Dujaq Rural District.[4]
After the 2016 census, the village of Aralluy-e Bozorg merged with another village to form the new city of Arallu,[5] and the village of Samarin was elevated to the status of a city.[6]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 542,930 in 131,950 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 564,365 people in 156,242 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 605,992 in 180,975 households.[9]
