The sharpsnout snake eel[1] (Apterichtus klazingai) is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).[2] It was described by Max Carl Wilhelm Weber in 1913.[3] It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the Indo-Western Pacific, including East Africa, the Marshall Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands. It dwells at a depth range of 10mto25mm (30feetto82feetm), and lives in congregations in confined regions of sand sediments. Males can reach a maximum total length of 40cm (20inches).[2]
The sharpsnout snake eel's diet consists of crabs, shrimp, and bony fish.[4]
