Antoine Spire (born in Paris on 31 March 1946) is a press and radio journalist, an intellectual and a French publisher. He was director of the Human Sciences Research Department of the Institut national du cancer.[1]

He is also a host/coordinator of national conferences and cultural meetings. He is an editorial advisor to the newspaper Le Monde, Le Monde de l'éducation, a journalist at La Vie and collaborates on various associative publications.[2]

Author of books, he has also participated in numerous popular works produced in collaboration with intellectuals including Pierre Bourdieu, Jacques Derrida, George Steiner, Edgar Morin.[3]

He is a graduate of Lycée privé Sainte-Geneviève and HEC Paris. He also has a master's degree in sociology obtained in 1968.[4]

Based in Ivry-sur-Seine, he regularly hosts a "Café philosophique" and is an activist in the local section of the Socialist Party.[5]

In the second round of the 2012 presidential election, he publicly supported François Hollande.[6]
