Amandine Buchard (born 12 July 1995) is a French judoka.[1] [2] She represented France at the 2020 Summer Olympics[3] winning the silver medal in the half lightweight event and a gold medal in the mixed team event.[4] She is a third dan black belt.[5]

Career

Buchard won a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia.[6]

Buchard was junior world champion in 2014, having won the 2014 World Juniors Championships.[7] [8]

In 2019, Buchard won the silver medal in the women's 52 kg event at the 2019 Judo World Masters held in Qingdao, China.[9] In 2021, she won the gold medal in her event at the 2021 Judo World Masters held in Doha, Qatar.[10] [11] At the 2021 Judo Grand Slam Abu Dhabi held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, she won the gold medal in her event.[12]

Buchard won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 Judo Grand Slam Paris.[13]

She won a bronze medal in the women's 52kg event at the 2024 World Judo Championships held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.[14] [15] She also won bronze in the same category in the 2024 Summer Olympics. [16]

Personal life

Buchard was born in Noisy-le-Sec to a father from Metropolitan France and a mother from the French overseas department of Martinique. She is openly lesbian.[17] [18]
