Alijah Huzzie is an American football defensive back for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He previously played for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.
Huzzie was born in Lagrange, Georgia and attended high school at Heard County High School. Huzzie would decide to commit to play college football for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.[1]
Huzzie had a breakout 2022 season with East Tennessee State where he notched 59 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, 22 passes deflections, and a touchdown.[2] For his performance on the season, Huzzie was named a first team FCS All-American.[3] [4] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Huzzie would decide to enter the NCAA transfer portal.[5] [6]
Huzzie would finish his career at East Tennessee State with 179 tackles, 30 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions, over a span of 34 games.[7]
Huzzie would decide to transfer to North Carolina Tar Heels to continue his career.[8] [9] In week four of the 2023 season, Huzzie had a breakout game, where he notched two interceptions, and he returned two punts for 82 yards and a touchdown, as he helped the Tar Heels beat Pittsburgh.[10] For his performance on the game, Huzzie was named the ACC special teams player of the week.[11] [12]
