Alice Maio Mackay (born August 4, 2004) is an Australian filmmaker best known for writing and directing the 2023 queer horror films T Blockers and Satranic Panic.[1]
Maio Mackay was born in Adelaide.[2]
Since 2017, Maio Mackay has produced work under her own company, One Manner Productions. Many of her works are crowdfunded.[3] After directing a string of short films, Maio Mackay's debut feature, So Vam, was released in 2021, followed by Bad Girl Boogey the next year. Her subsequent two features, T Blockers and Satranic Panic, premiered in 2023.[4]
Maio Mackay's fifth feature film was announced in May 2023.[5] The title, Carnage for Christmas, was revealed that August.[6]
Maio Mackay cites Gregg Araki as a major influence on her filmmaking and incorporates elements of camp into her work.[7] [1]
Maio Mackay is a transgender woman.[7] She resides in Sydney.[2]
