Alden Township is a rural township in Hand County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 33 at the 2000 census.
Alden is located in survey township 114N Range 69W in the northwestern part of Hand County. The township covers 36.38sqmi, all land. Lost Creek, a minor tributary of the James River, flows through the central part of the township.
As of the census of 2000, there were 33 people, 11 households, and 10 families residing in the township. The population density was 0.9/mi2. There were 15 housing units at an average density of 0.4/mi2. The racial makeup of the township was 100.00% White.
There were 11 households, out of which 45.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 81.8% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 9.1% were non-families, and 36.4% had someone over the age of 65 in the household. The average household size was 3 and the average family size was 3.2.
