Ajeet Singh (died 4 September 2004) was an Indian politician and philanthropist.
His father worked as a railway employee and a farmer. He experienced the pain and problems of his people.
Ajeet Singh became a public figure in the late 1990s when the Uttar Pradesh state Criminal Investigation Department charged him for his alleged involvement in the murder of a leading real estate businessman, Rajesh Aggarwal, in Lucknow. Nothing was established in the case. He was known as the Bahubali of Lucknow.
He was affiliated with the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council twice.[2] [3]
He was shot dead on 4 September 2004,[4] by five men allegedly led by MLA Akhilesh Kumar Singh at a hotel in Unnao, where he was celebrating his birthday. A First information report (FIR)[5] was registered against Akhilesh Singh, who was then close to the Samajwadi, Ramesh Kalia, a BJP leader, and three others.[6] Akhilesh was the prime suspect in the murder case, but his role was not established.[7] It is quite possible that his death was accidental, killed by one of his own guards. None of the details have been proved or verified by the government or police officials.
People of his constituency come together once a year and commemorate his life. His wife Is Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh from Unnao and his son Shashank Shekhar Singh Is a BJP politician.
