Aiemann Zahabi (born November 19, 1987) is a Canadian mixed martial artist. He competes in the bantamweight[3] division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Aiemann is the younger brother of Tristar Gym head trainer Firas Zahabi.[4] As of November 19, 2024, he is #13 in the UFC bantamweight rankings.[5]
Before joining the UFC, Zahabi amassed a record of 6–0 with all of his wins coming by first round stoppages.[6]
Zahabi debuted at against Reginaldo Vieira. He won the fight by unanimous decision.[7]
In his second fight for the promotion, Zahabi faced Ricardo Ramos on November 4, 2017, at UFC 217.[8] He lost the fight by knockout in the third round.[9]
Zahabi faced Vince Morales on May 4, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 151.[10] He lost the fight by unanimous decision.[11]
Zahabi was expected to face promotional newcomer Drako Rodriguez on December 19, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 183.[12] However Zahabi tested positive for COVID-19 and the bout was scratched, with no replacement being sought for Drako.[13] The pair was rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 185 on February 20, 2021.[14] At the weigh-ins, Rodriguez weighed in at 140.5 pounds, four and a half pounds over the bantamweight non-title fight limit. He was fined 30% of his purse which went to his opponent Zahabi and the bout proceeded at catchweight.[15] [16] Zahabi won the fight via knockout in round one.[17] This win earned him the Performance of the Night award.[18]
Zahabi faced The Ultimate Fighter 29 bantamweight winner Ricky Turcios on July 9, 2022, at UFC on ESPN 39.[19] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[20]
Zahabi faced Aori Qileng on June 10, 2023, at UFC 289.[21] He won the fight by knockout in the first round.[22]
Zahabi faced Javid Basharat on March 2, 2024, at UFC Fight Night 238.[23] He won the bout by unanimous decision.[24]
Zahabi was scheduled to face Marcus McGhee on September 7, 2024 at UFC Fight Night 242.[25] However, Zahabi withdrew from and the bout was cancelled.[26] [27]
Zahabi faced Pedro Munhoz on November 2, 2024 at UFC Fight Night 246.[28] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[29]
