Aca Stanković Explained

Aca Stanković (Serbian: Аца Станковић; born 17 August 1967 in Belgrade) is a Serbian track and field athlete who competed in the pole vault.

Starting very late with sports, Stanković managed to be Yugoslavian junior runner-up in the pole vault and decathlon. He was well known as the last pole vault champion of former Yugoslavia, in 1991 in Sarajevo (now capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina). Croatian competitors didn't show, demonstrating protest against the war that started on their territory.
