Aaru Pushpangal is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. M. Balakrishnan. It stars Rajinikanth, Vijayakumar and Srividya, with Y. Vijaya, Pandari Bai, S. V. Sahasranamam, Suruli Rajan and Manorama in supporting roles. It was released on 10 November 1977.[1]

Plot

The story opens with the introduction of the six central characters, each facing unique personal challenges. These characters come from different backgrounds but are bound by love, betrayal, and moral dilemmas.

The three other characters also play important roles in shaping the narrative. They represent different kinds of emotional and moral struggles. Some face issues of loyalty and friendship, while others deal with love and sacrifice.

As the story unfolds, tensions rise between the characters due to Rajinikanth's manipulative actions. Betrayals and misunderstandings lead to heartache for many, especially as romantic relationships get complicated. The film delves into the consequences of bad decisions and the ripple effects they have on everyone involved.

Towards the climax, the characters must confront their choices. Rajinikanth's deceit begins to unravel, exposing his true nature to the rest of the group. This revelation leads to emotional confrontations and moments of reflection.

Production

Aaru Pushpangal is the first film where Rajinikanth and Vijayakumar acted together.[2] The filming was held at Perungalathur.[3]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack was composed by M. S. Viswanathan, with lyrics by Kannadasan.[4] "Yendi Muthamma" is the debut of Chandrabose as a singer.[5]
