A Little Thing Called First Love is a 2019 Chinese television series starring Zhao Jinmai and Lai Kuan-lin, adapted from a Thai movie "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". It first aired on Hunan TV on 23 October until 21 November 2019 at Tuesdays–Fridays for 36 episodes. The filming started on 1 February and ended on 7 May 2019.
An ordinary girl falls head over heels for the most popular boy in school. Xia Miaomiao (played by Zhao Jinmai) is a shy, artistic student who develops a crush on a handsome, talented classmate and embarks on a journey of self-discovery through college. Because of Liang Younian (played by Lai Kuan-lin), Miaomiao decides to make a change. Through the help of her friends, she starts to learn about fashion, join art clubs, and studies hard to raise her grades. Her ordinary life becomes more colorful by the day.
A straight and top student who majors in architecture, like his late mother. He and Lin Kaituo used to be good friends, but broke off because Kaituo’s mom married his dad. He thought that Miaomiao is just his sister or junior at first, but later realises that he has feelings for her. He confesses to her after she confessed to him earlier. He was given the chance to go to the Edinburgh University as an exchange student, but gave up after offered to work for the project that his mom left off.
A normal girl with average looks and grades who ended up being a pretty and excellent fashion designer after crushing on her senior Liang Younian. Being shy yet resolute, she eventually confesses to her senior and the become a couple. She then applies as an exchange student at the Birmingham University and returns to China a year later.
Always thought his dad was a great role model. He was good friends with Liang Younian but because his mom and Younian’s dad got married, he broke off with Younian and hated him. He always wanted to get better than Younian and was admitted to the architecture department of Haicheng University. He does part time jobs and never asks his parents for money. He likes Miaomiao and confessed his love to her but got rejected.
