ATN News (Bengali: এটিএন নিউজ) is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable news-oriented television channel. It is the first 24-hour satellite TV channel among the news-oriented television channels in Bangladesh. Officially beginning operations on 7 June 2010, it is the first contemporary news channel in Bangladesh.[1] It is a sister television channel to ATN Bangla, which is the first satellite TV channel of the country. Its slogan is “বাংলার ২৪ ঘণ্টা”, meaning 24 hours of Bengal. The channel is operating using Bangladesh's first satellite Bangabandhu-1 operated by Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited.

The channel grew up with a band of devoted, enthusiastic journalists, cameraman & Technician of the Country who have already achieved fame at both domestic and international levels. ATN News continues its activities with a view to present authentic and unbiased news to the audience across Bangladesh and also in other parts of the World.

History

ATN News broadcast its first test transmission on 1 May 2010, and officially went on air on 7 June 2010.[2] World class television journalist and media personality Mishuk Munier joined ATN News as CEO and chief editor in November 2010. He worked with the TV station until his death on 13 August 2011.[3] Noted Bangladeshi journalist Abed Khan took over the role of CEO and chief editor in 2011;[4] he remained in that post until his resignation on 20 April 2013. Currently, Mahfuzur Rahman is the Chairman & Managing Director of ATN News, while Mosharrof Hossain serves as Executive Director of ATN News.

On 5 August 2024, the channel, along with its sister ATN Bangla, went off the air temporarily after its offices in Dhaka were attacked and set on fire by protesters during the non-cooperation movement, shortly after prime minister Sheikh Hasina resigned.[5]
