The M9 is available in two powertrain, the range extender electric (EREV) and battery electric (EV).
The AITO M9 was launched on 26 December 2023 at Huawei's winter conference in China. [3] The vehicle adopts the design concept called "Kunpeng Zhanyi" with a drag coefficient of 0.264 Cd for the EV version and 0.279 Cd for the EREV version.[4]
Developed in collaboration with Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the M9 is equipped with many technologies from Huawei, such as the HarmonyOS intelligent cockpit and the Huawei ADS 2.0 (ADS 3.0 Since 2024), which is an AI-powered advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) consisting of one Lidar, three millimetre wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and several cameras. The M9 is built on Huawei Tuling platform, which is equipped with multi-modal fusion perception system, Huawei DATS Dynamic Adaptive Torque System and Huawei xMotion Intelligent Body Collaborative Control System. It is available in two model configurations, the Max and the Ultra .[5]
The AITO M9 is built with an aluminum chassis, with 80 percent of its body-in-white is made of it. It is also equipped with air suspension with an adjustment range of up to 801NaN1. Other equipment include a 75-inch augmented reality driver's head-up display (AR-HUD), 25 speakers and three screens up front consisting of a 15.6 inches central display, a 16-inch front passenger's monitor, and a 12.3 inch instrument panel. Four 10-inch screens for the second and third-row passengers can be added as an option, as well as a retractable 32-inch screen and a laser projector for rear passengers. The EREV version of M9 is equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine as a generator. The all-wheel drive layout is powered by two electric motor, producing 365kW combined. The front motor provide a power output of 165kW and 315abbr=onNaNabbr=on of torque, while the rear motor provides 200kW and 360abbr=onNaNabbr=on. It is available with two battery options, 42 kWh or 52 kWh ternary NMC lithium-ion batteries from CATL, supporting an all-electric range of 225km (140miles) and 275km (171miles) respectively, while the combined range reaches 1362km (846miles) or 1402km (871miles) km. The acceleration time of NaNkm/h reaches 4.9 seconds.
The BEV version of M9 is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture which is powered by two electric motors, producing 390kW combined. The front motor provide a power output of 160kW and 277abbr=onNaNabbr=on of torque, while the rear motor provides 230kW and 396abbr=onNaNabbr=on. It equips with the 97 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery pack from CATL and has a range of 630km (390miles). The acceleration time of NaNkm/h reaches 4.3 seconds. [9]
In July 2024, AITO M9 was awarded a "super" five-star safety certification from C-NCAP (2021 version) with a score of 93.9%, becoming the highest-scoring model in the history of C-NCAP.[10] [11]
