The AITO M9 is a 6-seater full-size luxury SUV manufactured by Seres under the AITO brand in collaboration with HIMA, Huawei's multi-brand automotive alliance from 2023.[2] It is the largest and most expensive vehicle from the brand, slotting above the AITO M7. The M9 is available in two powertrain options, which are range extender electric (EREV) and battery electric (EV).
The AITO M9 was launched on 26 December 2023 at Huawei’s winter conference in China. It is an SUV sized similarly to the Mercedes-Benz GLS or BMW X7.[3] The vehicle adopts the design concept called "Kunpeng Zhanyi" with a drag coefficient of 0.264 Cd for the EV version and 0.279 Cd for the EREV version.[4]
Developed in conjunction with Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the M9 is equipped with many technologies such as Huawei ADS 2.0, which is an AI-powered advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) consisting of one Lidar, three millimetre wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and several cameras, HarmonyOS 4 intelligent cockpit and other technologies. It is available in Max and Ultra model configurations.[5]
The AITO M9 is built with an aluminum chassis, with 80 percent of its body-in-white is made of this metal. It is also equipped with air suspension with an adjustment range of up to 801NaN1. Other equipment include a 75-inch augmented reality driver's head-up display (AR-HUD), 25 speakers and three screens up front consisting of a 15.6 inches central display, a 16-inch front passenger’s monitor, and a 12.3 inch instrument panel. Four 10-inch screens for the second and third-row passengers can be added as an option, as well as a retractable 32-inch screen and a laser projector for rear passengers.[6]
The M9 EREV is equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine as a generator. It has all-wheel drive with a dual motor setup producing 365kW, consisting of a front motor rated at 165kW and 315abbr=onNaNabbr=on of torque, while the rear provides 200kW and 360abbr=onNaNabbr=on. The M9 is available with an optional 42 kWh or 52 kWh ternary NMC lithium-ion batteries from CATL, supporting an all-electric range of 225km (140miles) and 275km (171miles) respectively, while the combined range is 1362km (846miles) and 1402km (871miles) km. The NaNkm/h acceleration time is 4.9 seconds.
The M9 EV is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture offers a dual motor setup producing 390kW, consisting of a front motor rated at 160kW and 277abbr=onNaNabbr=on of torque, while the rear provides 230kW and 396abbr=onNaNabbr=on. The battery is a CATL 97 kWh ternary lithium-ion pack with a range of 630km (390miles). The NaNkm/h acceleration time is 4.3 seconds. [7]
In July 2024, AITO M9 was awarded a "super" five-star safety certification from C-NCAP (2021 version) with a score of 93.9%, becoming the highest-scoring model in the history of C-NCAP.[8] [9]
