The 2024 Major Clubs T20 Tournament was a Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place in Sri Lanka.[1] [2] It was the 3rd season of the Major Clubs T20 Tournament, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket.The tournament was played from 12 May to 28 June 2024.[3]
In the final,Nondescripts Cricket Club defeated Bloomfield Cricket And Athletic Club by 8 wickets to win the title.[4]
The tournament will be played from 12th to 29th May, with the participation of 18 teams, which have been divided into four groups. After the end of the round-robin stage, the top two teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The semifinal encounters will be played on the 28th May at NCC Grounds, while the final will be held on the 29th May at SSC Grounds.
Fixtures of the knockout stage of SLC Major Club T20 Tournament 2024 have been rescheduled due to the prevailing weather conditions in the island.[5]
The 18 qualifying teams were divided into four groups of five, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage.The top two teams in the qualified for the knockout stage, which consisted of four quarter-finals and two semi-finals and a final.
The format was the same as the 2023 edition: 18 teams take part in the initial stages, divided into four groups.teams play each other once before the top two teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
The group stage consist of four groups of five teams, played as a single round-robin format. The top two teams in each group progressed to the knockout-stage.
