Yearly summary

Early hard court season

Brisbane International

See also: 2024 Brisbane International. Sabalenka entered Brisbane as the top seed.[3] She did not lost a set on her way to the final.[4] However, she lost the final in the straight sets 0–6, 3–6 to the second seed, Elena Rybakina.[5]

Australian Open

See also: 2024 Australian Open – Women's singles. Sabalenka won the 2024 Australian Open without losing a set and became the first woman to defend her title there since Azarenka in 2013. Sabalenka received praise for her consistent and dominant performances throughout the tournament.[6] [7] Notable victories included wins against former world No. 2 Barbora Krejčíková (9th seed), reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff (4th seed) and Zheng Qinwen (12th seed) who was playing in her first Grand Slam final. Gauff had previously defeated Sabalenka a few months prior in the final of the 2023 US Open. In the final itself, she did not commit any double faults, in stark contrast to previous performances at major tournaments.[8]
