Season:2024–25 Malaysia Super League

The 2024–25 Malaysia Super League (ms|Liga Super Malaysia 2024–25) is the 21st season of the Malaysia Super League, the top-tier professional football league in Malaysia since its establishment in 2004, and the 43rd season of top-flight Malaysian football overall.

This is the first season to have a two-year schedule, since the 2007–08.[1] [2] [3] [4] This is the first time the league officially applies video assistant referee (VAR) technology. The defending champion from the 2023 Malaysia Super League season is Johor Darul Ta'zim.

Foreign players

Southeast Asian (SEA) players who have acquired at least 3 international caps for their senior national team can play in the Super League without any restrictions. However, SEA players with less than 3 international caps must be approved by the Malaysian Football League (MFL).

MFL announced that teams can register up to ten imports, but the number of foreign players on the pitch is not more than six.[22] The 6 import players must consist of 4 foreign players, 1 Asian player, and 1 ASEAN player. Only 1 import player can be on the bench.[23] Clubs participating in AFC competition are allowed to register 10 foreigners.[24] Later, the MFL added a maximum registration quota of 12 foreign players, only to the clubs that involved in the AFC competition.[25] [26]
