On Friday 17 May 2024, Charlton announced their first pre-season friendly against Dartford.[36] On Wednesday 5 June 2024, Charlton announced their second pre-season friendly against AFC Wimbledon.[37] On 1 July 2024, Charlton announced their third and fourth pre-season friendlies against Göztepe - which would take place during their training camp in Slovenia - as well as a home match against Portsmouth.[38] On Thursday 4 July 2024, Charlton announced their fifth and sixth pre-seasons matches against Millwall and Crystal Palace which would both be played behind closed doors.[39]

The first round draw was made on Thursday 27 June 2024.[41] [42] On Thursday 4 July 2024, the date of the first round was announced.[43]

The regional group stage draw was confirmed on Monday 24 June 2024 and saw Charlton Athletic placed in Southern Group C, alongside Bromley and Cambridge United.[44] On Thursday 27 June 2024, it was confirmed that the final team in the group would be Chelsea U21.[45] On Fridy 26 July 2024, the dates for the group stage fixtures were confirmed.[46]
