The 2023 Tewkesbury Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect members for the 20 wards of the Tewkesbury Borough Council in England.[1] [2] [3] This was on the same day as other local elections taking place in England.[4]
Following the results, the Conservatives lost the council to no overall control for the first time in 16 years.[5] [6] The Conservative leader of the council prior to the election, Rob Bird, lost his seat.[7] Liberal Democrat councillor Richard Stanley was appointed leader of the council at the subsequent annual council meeting on 17 May 2023 with the support of all parties except the Conservatives.[8]
