The 2023–24 CSA 4-Day Series is a first-class cricket competition taking place in South Africa from 26 October 2023 to 3 March 2024.[1] It was the 3rd edition of the post-franchise era and retained the two-division league format introduced the previous year.[2] [3] The competing teams in each division were different for the first time since the 2021–22 adoption of the provisional format, with KwaZulu-Natal Inland being promoted to Division 1 and Knights being relegated to Division 2 based on their performances across all formats in the previous two years.[4] 2023–24 will be the first season to have promotion and relegation based on teams' performances across formats in just that one season.[5]

The Division 2 teams of Limpopo and Mpumalanga were re-awarded first-class status in October 2022.[6] Therefore, unlike the previous season, all matches played in the competition would have first-class status.[7] [8] [9]
