On 15 June, Bradford City announced their pre-season schedule, with matches against Bury, Eldense, Bradford (Park Avenue), Hull City, Middlesbrough and Rochdale.[42] In July, it was confirmed that Getafe replaced Eldense as pre-season opposition.[43]

Bradford were drawn at home to Wycombe Wanderers in the first round.[45]

The Bantams were drawn away to Accrington Stanley in the first round,[46] to Wrexham in the second round[47] and at home against Middlesbrough in the third round.[48]

The Group stage draw was finalised on 22 June 2023.[49] After topping the group, they were drawn at home to Liverpool U21 in the second round,[50] [51] away to Derby County in the third round,[52] [53] then at home to Doncaster Rovers in the quarter-finals,[54] and finally at home to Wycombe Wanderers in the semi-finals.[55] [56] If Bradford Beat Wycombe, they will face Peterborough United at Wembley Stadium.
