- On 6 January 2010, it was announced that Matip had decided not to participate in this tournament since he had not yet made up his mind whether he wanted to represent Cameroon or Germany internationally. As it was past the deadline, however, a replacement could not be called. Therefore, he was an official part of the Cameroonian squad for the tournament, though he was not actually present at the tournament.
