2001 Ericsson Open – Women's singles explained

Venus Williams defeated Jennifer Capriati in the final, 4–6, 6–1, 7–6(7–4) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2001 Miami Open. Williams saved eight championship points in the third set.[1] [2] [3]

Martina Hingis was the defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Venus Williams.
