The 1999–2000 NBL season was the 22nd season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 11 teams contested the league. The Newcastle Falcons folded and were replaced by the Cairns Taipans.

Ladder

The NBL tie-breaker system as outlined in the NBL Rules and Regulations states that in the case of an identical win–loss record, the results in games played between the teams will determine order of seeding.

¹3-way Head-to-Head between Adelaide 36ers (3-3), Townsville Crocodiles (3-3) and Perth Wildcats (3-3). Adelaide 36ers won For and Against (+27), Townsville Crocodiles (+18), Perth Wildcats(-45).

²3-way Head-to-Head between Wollongong Hawks (4-2), Canberra Cannons (3-3) and Sydney Kings (2-4).
