1986 St Albans City and District Council election explained

The 1986 St Albans City and District Council election took place on 8 May 1986 to elect members of St Albans City and District Council in England.[1] This was on the same day as other local elections.

At the election, the SDP-Liberal Alliance displaced the Conservatives as the largest party for the first time since the council's creation in 1973.
