The 1986 Humboldt State Lumberjacks football team represented Humboldt State University in the Northern California Athletic Conference during the 1986 NCAA Division II football season. Led by first-year head coach Mike Dolby, the Lumberjacks played home games on campus at the Redwood Bowl in Arcata, California, finished with a 2–9 record (0–5 in NCAC, last), and were outscored 175–350.

Humboldt State opened the season at Division I-AA Boise State in the first game ever played on a blue field.
