The 1976 Marshall Thundering Herd football team was an American football team that represented Marshall University as an independent during the 1976 NCAA Division I football season. In its second season under head coach Frank Ellwood, the team compiled a 5–6 record and was outscored by a total of 222 to 137. John "Fuzzy" Filliez and Billy Yanossy were the team captains.[1] [2] The team played its home games at Fairfield Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia.
