Ilie Năstase defeated Nikola Pilić in the final, 6–3, 6–3, 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1973 French Open.[1] It was his second and last major singles title, having also won the 1972 US Open. Năstase did not lose a set en route to the title.
Andrés Gimeno was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Guillermo Vilas.
This was the first major appearance for future world No. 1, six-time French Open champion, and eleven-time major champion Björn Borg.
