The 1929–30 English football season was Aston Villa's 38th season in The Football League.

Dicky York hit seven goals in 32 games in 1929–30.[1]

The Second City derby commenced on the first day of the season. Villa beat Birmingham 2–1 with goals from Reg Chester and Dicky York.[2] They drew 1–1 in December at St Andrews.[3]

In October Villa beat Leicester City 3-0 before a 45,000 crowd at Villa Park.[4]

There were debuts for Eric Houghton (361), George Brown (116), Fred Biddlestone (151), Bob Brocklebank and Jack Mandley.[5]
