(+)-Pulegone reductase explained

(+)-pulegone reductase
Ec Number:1.3.1.81

(+)-pulegone reductase is an enzyme with systematic name (−)-menthone:NADP+ oxidoreductase.[1] This enzyme catalises the following chemical reaction

(1) (−)-menthone + NADP+

\rightleftharpoons

(+)-pulegone + NADPH + H+

(2) (+)-isomenthone + NADP+

\rightleftharpoons

(+)-pulegone + NADPH + H+

NADH cannot replace NADPH as reductant.
